I’d like to thank the academy

I feel like I should be accepting an award…or making a speech…or at least something pretty monumental like that.

008

I finished my first sock.

And it’s everything I hoped it could be.

Except for I probably should have added about 4 more rounds on the foot.

And I probably should have ripped out the few rows up toward the top where I have that little slub…that I ignored and pretended wasn’t there.

But other than that, it IS everything I hoped it could be.

Well…except for a PAIR of socks…I did actually hope for a pair.

IHSW

There is a movement out there, people.

A movement started by someone brave enough to put a name to what we all find ourselves doing (or wish we were doing!) on the weekends.

Stitching.

And not just any stitching.

Hermiting & Stitching.

The kind of stitching where you throw chores and sanity by the wayside and declare that you’re sitting on your rear end ALL WEEKEND and stitching.  The y’all best take care-a y’alls selves ‘cause momma ain’t comin’ outta this room till Part 1 of the Deep Blue Sea is done kind of stitching.

Maybe your IHSW didn’t sound like that…but in my house it did!

All kidding aside, I did work on Deep Blue Sea quite a bit and got SOOO close to the finish line of part one.

006

I even started on the gold backstitching…which btw is going to take FOR. EV. ER…

007

If you haven’t tried hermiting…you should.

But if you’re a stitcher/quilter/crafter of any sort…you KNOW you’ve hermited.

You just didn’t know the name of it until now. *wink*

Join in with us next month…you know you want to…

I cleaned my sewing room

Wow.  What an original title.

sewing room 03162012 (6)

On Wednesday last week, I had the pleasure of teaching my best friend (of almost 20 years…let’s not go there!) how to knit.  She came over for the afternoon, and we spent some really awesome time catching up…and knitting!

Now…I love my sewing room.  It’s my space to do WHATEVER I want with.  And there’s a door that closes so I can “forget” about the accumulated mess…and boy was there some MESS in that room!  The problem was…there was so much CRAP “creativity” in the room…I was feeling very overwhelmed…and uncreative!  I even mentioned to my husband that the room was overwhelming me…  So I waited until the kids were asleep on Tuesday night, turned on some Ally McBeal reruns (LOVE!) and set out to clean up my room…

Here are some of my favorite new views in my room

OK…that last picture kinda cracks me up…cause that really is a CLEAN version of how the couch looked before I started cleaning!  My DBS stitching project requires so much “stuff” that it usually ends up spread all over…

The best part about the room now…it’s clean, organized, and full of all the things that I love.  One of my favorites in the room is the beautiful painting that my best friend painted for me when I first went away to college.  I love having her original art in my creative space!

Thanks for stopping in!  You are all welcome to come sit and stitch/sew anytime!

Deep Blue Sea

I’ve had much more time for stitching and crafting this week as I’ve been HOME FOR SPRING BREAK!!!

Here is my progress on Part 1 of Deep Blue Sea:

Today is the last day of my break and I’m hoping to have everything except the backstitching and beading done on Part 1.  Wish me luck!

A finish, and a shop update

I finished the sweet little January dessert…and she’s SO CUTE!  {I think she’s a SHE…cause it’s a champagne truffle and in my world that makes her a girl}.

007

I’ve also listed a few items for sale in my etsy shop.  A few layer cakes and some cross-stitching items that I need to clear out.  You can visit my shop {here}.

Please feel free to email me if you have any questions about any item listed.  I’m going to be periodically updating the shop over the next several days, so make it a favorite and enjoy shopping!

February’s Dessert

I finished up the February Dessert – Devil’s Food Cupcake - in the Frosted Pumpkin Stitchery’s Dessert of the Month series.

February

I’m stitching this on 40 ct. Abecedarian Blend fabric by R&R using various overdyed fibers (mostly Weeks Dye Works) from my stash.

This is such a quick and easy stitch…and I highly recommend it!  It’s a one time price of $16.95 and then you will get the PDF every month in email for the new design.  Go {here} if you’re interested…  You can also check out the flickr group…there’s tons of cuties in there, too.

This weekend I’ll be working on the January & March desserts and possibly a bit of sewing.  What are your crafty plans for the weekend?
