creeping along

Stella Blue and I have been creeping along together…slowly but surely.

All of the fabric is cut (some of it is wrong…but can be fixed.  boo.)

all cut out

I am using a flying geese ruler to make these geese…which means that the geese are less scrappy than the version that Carrie put together for the cover quilt.  Her version of the quilt has two different blues for each geese block…so that each large star has 8 different blues…and lots of different cream backgrounds.

I think like the symmetry of every star “matching”…rather than my other option of having each side be a different blue.  I haven’t made enough geese yet to test out that layout, but I certainly will before everything is sewn together.

matched test block

So what do you think?  Do you like the matched version, or do you think that I should go with something scrappier?

I like the matched version...I think it will be nice and scrappy with all the different stars. It's going to be awesome.

I like the matched version. I think your large stars are going to stand out more than the original. It's always fun to do a pattern a little differently and be surprised at the end!

I like your matched version. It is going to be beautiful all put together. Fun!

It is neat to put your own touch to your piece. Your selection is very good and will look wonderful when put together.

I think it looks great. I tend to like matched too, but with some things I don't mind mixing it up. Either way it's going to look wonderful. Can I ask what book that pattern is in or if it's an individual pattern?

I think either would look great....it just depends on what you want. Not the answer you were looking for? LOL!! If it was scrappier, you would have the option of adding different blues a little easier, but using the ruler may be very helpful. Have you tried the Open Gate ruler? It's amazing.....but it may not have the size you need for this project.

I like the matched choice. I have all my fabrics and wish I could join you in getting this done. However, I can't find the pattern nor the book anywhere but I will keep looking. A certain book store says it has it but for a pretty horrendous price.

Hi Dianne, I just read your comment on Leanne's House blog about Vignette, I purchased my Sweet Broderie fabric and Cosmo threads for Vignette from Inbetween Stitches in California (online I am in Australia) So I am sure they would have the magazine. I did have to email them though, the site is not updated all the time, but they responded quickly (via the contact form on their site) and were very helpful
