Great giveaway!

So on my previous post I talked about how much I loved Block of the Month programs…

Here’s a great one that starts in November.  http://www.fatquartershop.com/Green-Piece-Moda-Block-of-the-Month.asp

Fat Quarter Shop is giving away a fat quarter bundle of fabrics that are used in this BOM…for free people!

And as hesitant as I am to publicize a giveaway where you might win instead of me…it is a pretty gorgeous BOM…so enjoy the eye candy…sign up…and compete (yes, against me) for the giveaway!

GOOD LUCK!!!

FQS BOM #2 Complete

I’ve decided that for people like me who love the look of complex quilts but are still learning to do this whole quilting thing…

FQS BOM2

…that a Block of the Month program is perfect!  This block was the first time that I’ve done flying geese…and I’ll say for the first time, I’m fairly proud of myself.  I also met {most} of my seams…and for that…I’m VERY proud of myself.

I just love Glace…

new furniture to love…

So when I tell you I feel like we got a deal…I tell ya…we got a deal!

Email from hubby:  hey babe (that’s me), uh coworker is selling an antique buffet that he’s had for about 20 years.  It’s from about the 1910’s or 1920’s and it’s in good shape.  You interested?

Me:  Maybe how much is he selling it for?

Darling hubby completely unaware of the amazing deal falling into our lap:  He really is trying to get $250, but since it’s us he said he’d take no more than $200.

Me:  uh, YEAH we’re interested!  HELLO!!!…

Sweet hubby who’s now smiling cause he’s made my day:  Oh, OK.  Well I’ll let him know.

Today my hubby and I switched cars (I drive the SUV) so that he can pick up said buffet.  And let me tell you, I think we got a steal of a deal for $200!  Well, maybe not a steal, but I swear I couldn’t even get a particle board buffet for less than $400 and this baby is SOLID WOOD beautiful!

LOVE the Sterling Silverplate handles…check out the detail…

And check this out…cool writing on the inside drawer (and some damage…but ignore that part and check out the writing).  I’m hoping that it isn’t Burlington as in the coat factory…but even still…it’s cool to think about.  Any ideas where it might have come from?

All in all, I’m loving it.  Funny how this one piece of furniture makes me feel pretty grown up.  I guess ‘cause it’s all antique and stuff.  Who knows.  Amazing how I can buy a house, bear two children, and it still takes a buffet to be a grown up…

And, and, wanna know the best part?  I have yet another surface to decorate seasonally!  But before that…I definitely see a lamp and perhaps a topiary or two in my immediate future…

I might be caving…

We all know that Becky is a huge fan of bees, and Vonna has stitched her Bee Man’s Garden and teased us all with the now imminent release of the 3rd book of charts which will contain all of the series (picture shamelessly borrowed from Vonna’s blog)…

I think that I’m going to also be a fan of all things “Bee.”

I finished the Sam Sarah B is for Bee a few months back…and since then I’ve been looking around and there are SOOO many cute Bee things in stitching.

Article 1 (from Kelmscott Designs):

Articles 2& 3 (by Wendy KC Designs…who BTW is new to me…):

Article 4 (Birds of a Feather…and this one is already in my stash):

That one I particularly love because the first line contains the words “The Bee sucks.”  Yes I know that it’s just the first three words of the whole sentence…but it’s funny to me ;)

I know that there are a MILLION more out there…but these just caught my eye this morning as I was perusing the WWW.

What’s been catching your eye lately? :)

So much has happened…

Since we last talked :)

I have been SUPER SUPER busy lately…all of it good!  I took my 1 week crash course to get my teaching certification, my kids were out of town during that week.  We took a 3 day trip to Louisiana, went to the zoo, attended at least 3-4 birthday parties/bbqs, took a test (which I didn’t pass…but I will next time!) and in between all of that of course I’ve attempted to keep a clean house, sew, stitch, and be June Cleaver…

First up, a pic of the lovely little present that I received in the mail from Natasha.  I won a giveaway on her blog, and she knew that I liked Blackbird Designs…so I got this great chart!  It was one that I didn’t already have, which is great!  Thanks Natasha!!!

So, I have a few things to share, but not much!

I can’t remember if I’ve posted these or not yet, but I have a snap of the in-progress of the quilts for my next door neighbor’s little girls.  The first one is for Peyton…(design taken from something else I saw on the web…but came up with the dimensions on my own)…

DSCN0480 And this one is for Ripley…

DSCN0479 These squares above will all look like the ones on the bottom row eventually.  I got the idea for this one from the fantabulous Moda Bake Shop.

I have been stitching a bit, and I’ve been in a bit of an ADD stitching mood lately.  I stitched on my pineapple biscornu, a bit on my LHN Traveling Stitcher, and lately I just finished part one of the Papillion Creations SAL Castles in the Air.  I say I’ve finished part 1, but really I still need to do the beads and the metallics.  I haven’t picked those out yet…I’m waiting until I get more of the pattern stitched before I decide on final colors for those.  But so far it’s looking great…definitely VERY different color and style than my “normal.”  Pics below…

Pineapple Biscornu 080409 Traveling Stitcher 080409 Castles Part 1 Alrighty now…I think that just about brings us up to date.  I have really been bad about visiting blogs lately…and even worse about commenting if I make it there!  But, please know, that you’re all doing some amazing things, and I’m really enjoying seeing your progress (as always)!

And, because I can, I’ll leave you with a cute pic of one of my boys, Baby Jack.  Really I’m not going to be able to call him Baby Jack for much longer…he’s really quickly gone from this…
