Red Thread progress

I have stitched as much as I can for now on my Coq Au Pins until more silk comes in from my LNS. I ran out of the Ecru SNC. Hopefully it will be in soon. In the meantime, I finished the 3rd block of the Red Thread Snapper (yes I'm still on my kick of WIPs rather than new starts!). I've moved on to the 4th block, as I'm technically almost 5 months behind now! Wouldn't it be great to finish it today, and then I'd have another finish for July!

I know what my next start will be...and truly I need to start it soon! I will be stitching Sailing Home by Blackbird Designs. It's a birth sampler that will be for Jack. I've switched just about everything in this design...fabric, fibers, you name it! When I do actually start I'll show you some pics and the details.

I go back to work 2 weeks from today :( My husband and I have really been working on getting Jack's room settled. It is painted, the crib has been reassembled and set up, as well as the changing table. We've pulled out the infant toys and clothes down from the attic and my next project is to go through the bags of infant "stuff" and determine what to reuse and what to throw away, sell, etc. I have my first baby shower on the 10th, and then another one on the 30th. The 2nd shower is at my house, so I've been really motivated to get the room looking good so that we can show it off a bit to the guests! Again, as things get looking better in there, I'll post some pics!

Finally thanks to all who have viewed my blog and commented lately! I love visiting your blogs too, and I'm so thrilled that you took the time to see mine! I wish you all days full of fun and stitching!

More rooster...

Well, I've stuck to my word and continued work on this project. I really am enjoying it, and I've been able to get over half of the body of the rooster completed. I had to order more of the SNC Ecru from my LNS, as what I have will definitely not finish the job. So, I'll continue on until I run out of thread! I must also apologize for this picture...thanks to Hurricane Dolly, we're extremely overcast here outside of Houston and I had to put this on my island with the lights on to get any kind of picture...but you get the idea :)

On other news fronts, my husband and I started painting baby Jack's room yesterday. It's a blue not to dissimilar to the color of this fabric, actually! We got about 1/3 done...the big wall is done. Now just lots of edging around doors and windows and we'll be complete. I envision us being completely finished with the painting of the walls by tomorrow. We have to wait until Nicholas takes a nap, because as much as he wants to help, he certainly does impede the progress!

Sticking to my word

At least for today, I'm sticking to my word and working on a long time WIP. I often wonder why these charts end up as WIPs... I guess because new fun things come out and sometimes you just need a new start! They're so much fun!! Anyway, this is Coq Au Pins by Twisted Oaks Designs. I have already stitched the scissor fob, the scissor pocket, and most of the needle nanny. I started work on the chicken rather than finish the needle nanny last night, as I was watching a movie with my husband and he didn't want ALL the lights on in order for me to stitch over 1!! Also, just for the record, when working on this originally last year, I inadvertently stitched the scissor fob over 2 rather than over 1 like called for. I don't mind how it looks, so it's staying :) Maybe 1 day, after I've stitched everything, I'll go back and do again over 1, but it's not happening any time soon!

Barnabee and Bella FINALLY meet!

When Barnabee Met Bella
Just Nan Design
Recommended 30ct. fabric and DMC fibers

I fell in love with this design when I first saw it, and I was so excited to stitch it and to have it completed! I did leave off the 3 purple beads that it called for at each point...I just didn't see how they added much, so I left them off. I also stitched this design in DMC rather than the prescribed silks...

I'm REALLY tempted to make a new start but I think that I'm going to try and finish a few WIPs for now...at least that's the plan at this moment!
